Early Education

The Early Education Program caters for children aged 2 years and 8 months until school age.
Early Education at Yarra Ranges SDS is a centre based program providing individual educational programs for each child according to their need and offers ongoing support to families.  The year before moving off to school we support families to explore all school options and the funding process for the Program for Students with Special Needs.
Parents and carers, together with classroom staff and therapy staff (Speech, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy,) plan programs to suit the individual needs of each child.   Programs focus on:

  • Communication skills –  both expressive and receptive
  • Fine motor
  • Cognitive skills
  • Gross motor skills
  • Self help skills
  • Social skills

Communication with parents is regular and  is also made with pre-schools, kindergartens and child care centres.
